Florence, the art city par excellence, can count on an exceptionally beautiful artistic heritage. Cimabue and Giotto, known as the “Fathers of Italian Painting”, lived there, as well as Brunelleschi, Donatello and Masaccio, the forerunners of Renaissance, and the geniuses of Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo. Their works, together with the ones of many other generations of artists, are kept in the over sixty city museums, first among all the “Uffizi”, the world’s finest art gallery. While walking through the Florence streets, you can admire the vast number of monuments marking the stages of the city’s artists. You can see the Baptistery with its mosaics, the Cathedral and its sculptures, the medieval churches with the frescoes cycles and many public and private palaces such as Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace), Pitti Palace and Medici-Riccardi Palace.

When visiting Florence, you should not miss the fascinating walk on the Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), one of the symbols of the city, especially at sunset. The bridge crosses the Arno river at its narrowest point and has many small shops along both sides, most of which are goldsmiths’ shops.
